Punjab National Bank (PNB), facing a scam crisis, has reported a loss of Rs 4,532.35 crore in the September quarter of the current financial year. The bank had a net profit of Rs 561 crore in the same quarter last fiscal. The bank informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that during the reported quarter, its total income fell from Rs 14,205.31 crore to Rs 14,035.88 crore.
The unified NPA of the bank rose from 13.31 percent to 17.16 percent i.e. 81,250.83 crore during this period. For this reason, the provision for NPAs of the bank rose to Rs 7,733.27 crore from Rs 2,693.78 crore in the previous financial year. PNB's stock fell 1.01 percent to Rs 73.50 in the Bombay Stock Exchange.
