A Delhi court acquitted Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday for criminal defamation filed by a former assistant of Congress leader Sheela Dikshit. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal gave relief to the leader in the case filed by Pawan Kheda, during his Chief Ministerial post in Dikshit's political secretary. Kheda in October 2012, in protest against the increase in power tariff, you had filed a case against the alleged statements made by the leader against Dikshit on a television show.

Kheda had alleged that Kejriwal had made false and defamatory allegations against the then Chief Minister Dikshit, which also damaged his credibility as he was associated with them. The court said that Kejriwal has not named Kheda and his goodwill has not done any legal injunction. The court had fixed charges against Kejriwal under section 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code in October 2018. If Kejriwal was convicted in this case, he could have been jailed for a maximum of two years.
