The operation of Gurgaon Rapid Metro is now going to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). In this regard, talks between DMRC and the Haryana government have been finalized. According to the information, the DMRC will take over the operation of the Gurgaon Rapid Metro from February 5. No changes will be made regarding the rent and timing right now. Also, there will be no trunk of any existing staff.
The Rapid Metro runs between Phase II of Sector 55-56 in Gurgaon. There are 11 stations on this 12-kilometer corridor. Sikanderpur is the Interchange Station which connects the Yellow Line with Rapid Metro. Tomorrow, the entire operation will be in the hands of the DMRC. Khattar government had made it on the PPP (Public Private Partnership) model.
Gurgaon Rapid Metro is under IL & FS Transportation Network Limited (ITNL). ITNL Company IL & FS, which has become bankrupt, is a subsidiary of that group. In such a situation, the Haryana Government decided to hand over it to the Delhi Metro for better operation. According to the information, the DMRC will see the operation for five years. It is also reported that after the bankruptcy of IL & FS, the Urban Development Ministry asked DMRC to take over the operation of the rapid metro under its control.
